Hanging in the Balance


The "sweet" spot for fitness and nutrition effectiveness lies in one overriding quality: Balance


If you want to be in the best shape possible and spend your time as efficiently as you can, you should strive for a balance between:


1. Exercise and Nutrition

2. Work and Rest

3. Strength, Endurance, Flexibility and Core Stability


Each of these groups compliment each other and are interdependent. They affect each other and too much focus on one in a particular group can drag down your progress or sabotage your program altogether.


So how do you create that critically important perfect mix of each? In the next three posts, I'll address each one separately in more detail. But for today, keep this in mind and listen to your body's signals:


If you're too heavily focused on one, the others in the group will suffer. Shifting your emphasis to the neglected component will improve your overall performance, enhancing your progress across the board. So, ask yourself if you have been paying too much attention to one element in each of the groups above (we usually over-indulge the components we prefer, so start there and be honest with yourself). Try re-directing your focus to the other area(s) for a week or so. If you need guidance on where to start, check out the postings by category listed in the upper left hand corner of this page.
